PTA continuously taking measures to curb grey telephony which incorporates raids on illegal telecom set ups and whitelisting of Internet Protocols (IP) wont to relay legitimate voice traffic.

To safeguard the legitimate VOIP, PTA has issued IP Whitelisting Regulations (Formerly IP whitelisting SoP). IP addresses getting used by PTA LDI licensees and PSEB registered call centers are registered (whitelisted) to make sure their uninterrupted voice operations.

PTA for IP Whitelisting to Curb Grey Telephony
(Islamabad: 19th February, 2020):

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) continuously taking measures to curb grey telephony which includes raids on illegal telecom set ups and whitelisting of Internet Protocols (IP) used to relay legitimate voice traffic.
To safeguard the legitimate voice communication, PTA has issued IP Whitelisting Regulations (Formerly IP whitelisting SoP). IP addresses being used by PTA Long Distance and International (LDI) licensees and PSEB registered call centers are registered (whitelisted) to ensure their uninterrupted voice operations. In this regard, besides PTA LDI licensees, over 600 PSEB registered call centers have so far got their IP addresses whitelisted through PTA.

PTA has already intimated its licensees to ensure that only whitelisted Et are used for commercial voice services by them and their customers. The IP addresses which are not registered face periodic degradation for commercial voice services. Besides interruption of services, PTA also reserves the right to initiate further necessary action against the offenders as per the legal provisions.
It may be added that users with legitimate voice operations are required to ensure that they only use whitelisted lPs. As per whitelisting procedure, they should approach their Internet Service Provider for initiating whitelisting process with PTA.

Furthermore, PTA on a regular basis, takes action against Grey Telephony ranging from identification of grey exchanges for subsequent raid actions to disruption of illegal commercial voice traffic.

Suffering VOIP Consumer and ISP Industries: ISP Pakistan

A recent PTA action stared since 2 days ago against legitimate VOIP that was stared in 2017, and banned illegal VOIP services, but now a days so many legal VOIP consumer also suffering according to ISP's due to using the IP that not allowed by PTA or not whitelisted against the documentation that provided to PTA.

Solution to avoide the IP blacklist of VOIP Services:

  1. Compnany Registration
  2. PTA VOIP Registration Certificate
  3. IP should be Whitelisted throug ISP and PTA
  4. UDP Port be used for VOIP
  5. Addrss for using the VOIP services
  6. New registration for subsidiary in Other Location or City
  7. Infrasture/ Network Design/ and Implimentation
  8. VPN Services should be indetified if consumer required
  9. VPN Services certificate
  10. ISP have granted to provide the VOIP services through PTA
  11. Certificate should be valid for the current yaer
